News - April 8, 2010


Steamposium starts tomorrow !   We are taking walk-in registrations!   The economy is tough.  Don't let that stop you from attending this inaugural event.  There are places out there to get a discount on admission.  (see Radio blog below).  If you can only make it out for one day, the registration coordinator has been known to give a discount for that as well.   Check with us at registration and see if you can still participate!  At this point, we aren't checking our E-mail any longer so catch us on site at the hotel !   Hope to see you there !!!


Steamposium will be on Jon Klement's Internet Radio on Thursday Night. 

Steamposium has set a kid's price for the event.  $10.00 with a paying full price membership for kids 10 and under.

Don't forget your dancing shoes for the Grand Ball.  There will be Dance Cards !

News - March 30, 2010

It's hard to believe that the Steamposium will be in 10 days. 

Final Preparations are being made for the event and here is a list of things you will want to bring with you for the event.
  • Gaslights (Glowsticks for the Gaslight Dance on Friday Night)
  • A Tea Cup - there will be modern cups provided, but having your own Tea cup will only add to your experience.
  • Your camera or a borrowed one.   There will be special setups provided for you to take your Steampunk portraits.  There will also be a professional photographer setup at posted times during the weekend.
  • There will be a cash bar set on both nights if you wish to purchase drinks bring a bit of the green stuff ATMs have a tendency to run out of money quickly.
On Sunday early afternoon the local representative of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will talk about what it means to live with Cystic Fibrosis, how the foundation raises money and what they have done with their private donations to date.   After their presentation Steamposium will present them with the totals earned for the charity at the event.  We would like to see as many faces as possible at the presentation.

If you want to start your weekend early, there is going to be a local Steampunk event in South Saint Louis.   I have posted the flyer on "Other Steam" if anyone is interested.  Great Italian food mixed with Steampunk !

Steamposium attendees will have the opportunity to go to the Saint Louis City Museum as the day trip for the event.  A Luxury Coach bus will be provided on a rotational basis for anyone wishing to take the day trip.  General admission to the City Museum is included as part of your admission to the Steamposium.

Schedule is being finalized and will be posted here on March 17th.

    Pre-Registration deadline has been extended until March 22nd.

Call for Papers, Inventions and Creations
We are still asking for Papers, Inventions and Creations ! Deadline has been extended until February 28, 2010.

Costuming

We want this event to have style, and that means we will rely on you for costuming. We want you to costume as best you can afford on what may be a limited budget. Please use these guidelines:

  • If you had an unlimited budget or a seamstress hiding in your house, we would encourage you to assist in setting the stage with a full Steampunk outfit.
  • If you don't have much money to spend on this event, we ask you to be creative. A single costume piece can go a long way, goggles, scarves, hats or even a timepiece.
  • If all else fails, just try to figure out something that is distinctly the Steampunk persona you would like to share with everyone.
  • The last point is the most important... just represent your character as best you can.
Additional Costume Tips
  • Friday will highlight the adventurer in all of us.  Traveling clothes, dinner attire, cocktail party, light dancing.
  • Saturday daytime will have you off for adventures that includes sightseeing that could include crawling and climbing. 
  • Saturday late afternoon for High Tea
  • Saturday evening includes formal dinner wear and Ball Gowns.
  • Sunday - Brunch and Walks in the Park

Theme Announced - Full Steam Ahead

The First Annual Steamposium had a fan table at Archon Saint Louis and it was a huge success!   Players wondered by and made chess moves while they learned more information about the event as well as register in person.

Big News ! At the beginning of the month The R.O.S.E. Society set up as a Missouri Non-Profit under the name Steampunk St Louis and will be setting up online registrations as quickly as possible.
