R.O.S.E.'s First Annual Steamposium will be a 3 day salon style convention in the Saint Louis area on April 9, 10 and 11th in the year of 2010.  It was typical in Victorian times to gather all of the greatest minds together for a weekend of fun, frivolity and a meeting of the minds.  This First Annual Steamposium will be no exception.

This event will welcome all fans and future fans of the Steampunk genre that encourages characters, costumes as well as inventions.  Plans are underway for an amazing event and as things are added they will be posted on the front page.

There will be opportunities for Costumes to be Judged, Group Pictures, Balls, Discussions, Dances and Off Site Excursions.

The R.O.S.E. Society founding member and Director of the event has over 25 years of experience running similar style events.  Starting in the Gaming Convention arena and then adding Sci Fi style events and Live Action Role Playing Salons.  It's her love and passion of entertaining others in a convention style setting that has started this Steamposium.

The Artistic Director for the event is passionate and educated in Theater productions.  He was mis-diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis early in his life and grew to know many of the doctors and patients of the disease.  His experience in running Salon style events is matched only with his passion for raising funds to find a cure for CF.

The entire R.O.S.E. Society is made up of volunteers who want to make this an outstanding event and each and every one of them would like to invite you personally to join us.

Call for Papers, Inventions and Creations

The Royal Order of Steampunk Enthusiasts (R.O.S.E. Society) issues a call for papers, inventions, and creations for it’s annual meeting to be held in Saint Louis, Missouri on the dates of April 9, 10 and 11th in the year of 2010.

We call upon all members of the R.O.S.E. and future members—including makers, scientists, scholars, adventurers, visual artists and fashion designers– to share their work with their peers in Steampunk Society.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

• Schema and prototypes of new inventions
• Scholarly papers on exploration and culture
• Original works of fiction, poetry and art
• Visual art and fashion pieces which the showcase the spirit of the age

Membership for the First Annual Meeting is available. Members will be encouraged to present their work to fellow members during the weekend. Members with the top presentations will be elected as a Fellow of the R.O.S.E.—with all the rights and privileges thereof. In addition, the top presenters will receive a small honorarium in recognition of their contributions to the R.O.S.E.
